Sally Beck

The Hoteliers Charter was conceived by Sally Beck, General Manager, The Royal Lancaster Hotel when she called upon the industry to change the perception of hospitality careers and dispel a reputation of ‘long hours and poor salaries’.

During her term as Hotelier of the Year in 2019/2020 Sally brought together a team of influential organisations who embodied the values, behaviours and actions of a progressive industry.

‘Sadly we are still known for long hours and poor salaries. TV programmes are doing nothing to dispel the negative noise about working in our kitchens and our hotels. The government, now needing to legislate on how we handle service charges and tipping does not do us any credit either.’

The Hoteliers Charter is a platform to shout about all of the good things that hoteliers are doing so that potential employees and parents, colleges and universities can know that they will be supported and developed in their career choice for the long term.

We champion our industry as a career of choice and lead in best practice by putting the welfare of our employees first.

We are committed to providing a workplace environment built on respect, fairness, equality, diversity and opportunity, and to placing colleagues’ wellness and career development at the heart of the operation.
